Day 16 - Across the Mississippi

We continued on the Lake Wobegon trail this morning & crossed the Mississippi so we are officially in the east.  Central Minnesota is green & beautiful.  Tonight we are in the metropolis of Dalbo, MN at Donn Olson's Bicycle Bunkhouse.  Donn's farm is located on the ACA Northern tier route & 7 years ago he realized he could convert part of his unused barn to provide a room for road weary cyclists.  He's a 30 year Army veteran & figured it was time to give back - what a great person.  Donn is not a biker but has a passion to help people.  Thoughts for the day:

  1. I was sad to leave the bike trails & join car traffic after 105 miles on the trails (over past 2 days).  Donn told me about another trail to connect with tomorrow on the east side of Minneapolis.
  2. I hate the cold but I would be willing to come back to Minnesota in the winter & ride a snowmobile on the trails.
  3. I want to have a heart like Donn.
